Don't Ring Me

Don't Ring Me

Don't Ring Me

Seriously, I do not want to answer the phone 5 to 6 times a day to hear about lowering my gas, phone, electricity bills, go on amazingly cheap holidays or get another life insurance policy. Leave me alone!!

I have registered my name for 'No more Calls' and I still get them. They start at 9:30am and sometimes go until 8:30pm.

I now remind very politely of this when I am in the middle of cooking, changing nappies, eating or putting out the washing when I run to phone only to find a delayed voice who insists they are ringing from Melbourne. Quite obvious to me they aren't when they make a point of now telling me within their first sentence! Who does that?

I like to ask them about the weather in Melbourne, they brush me off why? Because they are not ringing from Melbourne, they have no idea. Once I even told them that I didn't need to lower my electricity bill because I'm a millionaire and I have no problem paying astronomical bills, made them speechless.

I'm thinking next time I may just give the phone to Baxter, he loves to talk on the phone as any two year old does. See how we go, should be entertaining.

Am I the only one here who gets so many calls a day? Sorry for the whinge but I've had it! I feel sorry for the people who are calling me to talk legitimately, I end up answering the phone quite rudely. Sorry mum.

Anyway have a good weekend, I've calmed down now.

Here We Go!

My obsession with decorated pegs has led me to ditch my blog for a week and finally open up my Etsy shop. Whoooo Hooo! Finally I have put my little crafts online to share and sell. The problem is I get distracted on Etsy and end up buying so many gorgeous things which I totally need, of course!!

Decorated pegs, all packaged and pretty. Ready to hang buntings, organise paperwork, add to party favour bags, stocking fillers or they make a cute teacher gift. They can be found here.http://www.etsy.com/shop/mylemonayde

I love them, I will be putting this gorgeous jar (above) in my new laundry once it's renovated. I think I could stare at these all day.

Cupcake toppers are also a favourite of mine, they make yummy cupcakes look divine. These are in packs of 12 and can be reused if cared for and can be found here

Cupcake toppers are also a great stocking filler or gift for the keen cook.

So come and take a look and say hi.

Lunch Box Inspiration

Lunch Box Inspiration

After yesterday's lousy effort I need a little more inspiration for the kinder lunch.

Am I the only one who is slightly intimidated by images of lunch boxes that have made into visual art. My version of a lunch box is a little more slapped together but certainly keeping them healthy, that the main objective here right?

Sometimes I need a little inspiration to keep the lunchbox looking yummy and offering a variety foods. This chart found on Pinterest from 'Meet The Dubiens' have provided great inspiration, this one will definitely get printed, laminated and stuck on the fridge, get your version here

They also have a free download for their adorable lunch notes as well. I have only just started adding little notes to Tyler's lunch box, writing only simple words that he can read independently like, 'I love you Tyler, from mum'. It's nicer if he can read these for himself rather than asking his kinder teacher.

Had to laugh when hubby was asking where was his note, so of course I stuck one in his lunchbox. Wonder if he had to get someone to read his!!

Don't get me wrong, lunch boxes shouldn't something we need to stress about, we have enough pressures that we put upon ourselves as mothers. I just like to have a lot of variety for Tyler and make each lunch box different from the last. I think back to my early school days and I was given boring sandwiches day in day out and eventually I just stopped eating them. I would hide them or throw them out. So I don't want history repeating itself. I want Tyler to look forward to eating his lunch.

Where do you get your lunch box ideas?

Tranquility Spray

Tranquility Spray

There is nothing more delicious than walking into a house that smells fresh and aromatic. I'm not talking about those Glade plug in things, I cannot stand synthetic smells and my boys have asthma so anything synthetic only triggers their asthma.

We often burn essential oils, but I also forget that I have it burning and leave the house, not a great habit. This is where a quick spray of room deodoriser is an easier way to go.

I have been sucked into buying every pretty bottle of room deodoriser over the years. When I came across a homemade recipe I thought I would give it a go.

Tranquility Spray

Tranquility Spray

You need:
*A clean, empty spray bottle with a fine mister
*1 oz distilled water or vodka ( I think the vodka helps it last  longer)
* 20 drops of your favourite essential oil ( I added 10 drops of lavender and 10 drops of rosemary for a tranquil effect)
Aromatherapy recipes can be found here

Combine the ingredients and shake. Spray towards the ceiling until you achieve the desired aroma you want. Smell and enjoy.

Please note:
You should store this bottle out of sunlight and keep away from linens and clothes to avoid staining. Blend essential oils safely  and only use ones that are suitable for your health (eg. if pregnant check for safe essential oils).

Have a great weekend. I may not leave the house because it smells so great.

Noddy Love

Who loves Noddy? I know I still do. A long time ago, Noddy books my mother gave me Noddy books as a reward. I collected them and cherished these books.

So long story short, I grew up, mum and dad moved and my Noddy books went missing, never to be found.

Thank goodness for Ebay and Op Shops. I have been scouring them for my childhood favourites.

My new Noddy badges have been added to my Etsy shop, made with Noddy extras.

Have some fun and check out my Noddy.

Out Of Whack

Out Of Whack

My children are on holidays with their grandparents and they are loving every moment. As for me, I am totally out of routine. Who would have thought, I needed my children to keep me in routine?

After dropping my children off to mum and dad's, I envisioned by week to be filled with lots of early morning walks, going out for dinner with hubby, catching up on my latest book and finishing a few projects that I have been putting off.

So this is how my week is really panning out. I am waking up early, having a rather long breakfast then slowly getting into my projects. Housework has been bypassed and I am yet to cook a meal. Naughty! By the time hubby comes home from work, I am covered in paint so I figured, cooking a meal would be a health and safety issue. We don't want paint in our meal now do we?

I am usually quite tidy, like to have everything in it's place by the end of the day and looking around me at the moment, I am shaking my head. Power tools everywhere. I have started every project and yet to finish one.

Hope to have some photos up soon, that is of course if I finish one.

One project I definitely need to get into is, cleaning this house before my children get home or I may find myself on the time out chair

Organising 2013

Organising 2013

Not sure if it's a mum thing or a teacher thing but having an effective planner/diary is essential in our house.  It keeps me on track with appointments, to do lists, kids activities etc because I cannot rely on my memory. In the past I have used the Inner B planner. I love this planner, but it's time for a change.

After looking at several planners I decided maybe I should  create my own, but wanted it A5 size and spiral bound. This was until I walked in Kikki K!! Whooo Hoo my favourite shop.

My husband literally left me in that shop for an hour to come back with a coffee and still find me in there and still drooling over their gorgeous range of stationery. I know I'm not the only one here who gets excited by Kikki K.

After picking this diary up so many time, I decided to finally get it. It gives me the option of monthly overview (essential) and space for each family member also essential, seeings how my children have a better social life than me.

So here it is:
Organising 2013

My new 2013 Family Planner and I'm in love. When we got home, I stepped over the mess (yes still there) and took out my washi tapes, stickers and pens and got to work. Hubby thought I had completely lost it because not only was it 10:00 at night but we were both exhausted from out day out in Geelong. It's strange how Kikki K brings back the life in me.

Organising 2013

I set to work and organised the school holidays with washi tape (any excuse) , birthdays and any other special occasion with small coloured dots purchased at Officeworks.

Organising 2013

To keep these supplies close by, I popped them into the zippered pouch. Ah! I feel so organised already.   Now I just need to wait until Dec 1 to use my planner.

Organising 2013

I'm all set for 2013. Are you?

Have a great weekend. I know I will, I'm off to pick up my children, cannot wait!!!
